John “Jack” Michael Watkins, Jr. is an Associate in the firm’s Miami office, where he focuses his practice on maritime litigation.

Mr. Watkins began his higher education at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he gained hands-on experience in marine engineering and maritime operations, including training aboard the Academy’s ship during Sea Term. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering in 2018. Mr. Watkins later received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts School of Law in 2026, where he served as a Staff Editor of the UMass Law Review.

Following his graduation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Mr. Watkins worked as a merchant mariner and engineering officer aboard commercial vessels around the world. His career took him across all seven continents and through both the Panama and Suez Canals. In this role, he was responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessels and their various systems.

Mr. Watkins draws on his extensive maritime experience in representing yacht owners, boat operators, charter captains, cruise lines, marinas, marine mechanics, watersport businesses, and tug companies in a wide range of maritime matters. His firsthand experience in the maritime industry provides him with a unique perspective in his legal practice.

Outside of his practice, Mr. Watkins enjoys golfing, boating, and playing hockey.
