Cody German is a Partner in the firm’s Miami office. He leads the firm’s commercial practice in the Miami office, overseeing a team of approximately 35 attorneys. Mr. German's practice focuses on commercial litigation, business disputes, employment law, and professional liability matters.

Mr. German handles a wide range of business-related issues, including partnership and shareholder disputes, professional liability claims, employment matters, restrictive covenant litigation, and real estate disputes. His clients span closely held businesses, entrepreneurs, accounting and law firms, real estate professionals, and participants in the hospitality industry.

With substantial experience on both sides of the aisle, Mr. German has served as lead plaintiff’s counsel in cases resulting in multiple seven-figure verdicts and, as lead defense counsel, has obtained numerous complete defense verdicts at trial. He regularly tries cases in both jury and non-jury settings.

Beyond litigation, his work includes advising clients on contract negotiations, payment arrangements, and practical risk management. Mr. German also represents unit owners and board members in condominium disputes, including large-scale bulk buyout transactions.

Representative Matters

  • Successfully defended the personal accountant to the Madoff Family Foundation in various investor lawsuits resulting from the Madoff Ponzi scheme.
  • Represented a New York-based real estate developer in various lawsuits stemming from development of South Beach’s most prestigious residential towers.
  • Seven figure jury verdict in favor client who was defamed by competitors.
  • Significant jury verdict in favor of restaurant client against their payroll company stemming from a payroll fraud. This case involved an untested legal theory against the international payroll company.
  • Complete defense jury verdict in favor of client in a commercial dispute over the sale and valuation of a famous art collection.
  • Complete defense jury verdict in favor of Miami law firm in legal malpractice case.
  • Represented a California accounting firm in a securities class action and related bankruptcy action in connection with a failed Chinese Reverse Merger, including a dismissal with prejudice that was affirmed on appeal with the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Represented the law firm that prepared a private placement memorandum that was used in connection with the Scott Rothstein Ponzi scheme in a related bankruptcy and investor action.
  • Successfully defended the auditor for a public company in a securities class action lawsuit, pre-IPO matters, and public grant-based litigation.
