Defense Verdict – Negligent Security - Miami

Miami Partners, Brad Sturges and Michael Brand secured a complete defense verdict in a negligent security case in Miami. Plaintiff, the housekeeper of the defendants, claimed that due to their required “open door” policy, she was not allowed to lock the door to the family home while cleaning. As a result, an assailant entered through the unlocked front door, beat her, pistol-whipped her, handcuffed her with zip ties and left her in a bedroom closet until she could free herself.

Plaintiff claimed medical expenses, years of therapy and post-traumatic stress disorder while asking the jury for seven figures. The jury deliberated for less than an hour and a half, over lunch, before rendering a defense verdict.
