West Palm Beach partner David Bradley and Miami partner Mike Brand secured a complete defense verdict in Broward County in a three car accident involving an 18-wheeler.
Their client, the driver of an 18-wheeler, was involved in a three car accident on I-75. The vehicles were traveling side by side and parallel as they headed southbound at 5 a.m. As a result of the collision the plaintiff was removed from her vehicle by the jaws of life, airlifted to Memorial Regional and placed in a medically-induced coma. She incurred $400k in medical bills and was hospitalized for almost a month, followed by rehabilitation.
The third driver involved in the accident, in the righthand lane, testified that the plaintiff started the accident by veering into his lane from the middle lane. However, a corrections officer eyewitness traveling behind all three vehicles testified that the tractor-trailer caused the accident as his trailer began swaying and then losing control, sweeping both other vehicles off the road.
Plaintiff asked the jury for $4 million. The jury, after two hours of deliberation, returned a complete defense verdict.
