Jonathan Vine is a partner with the firm’s West Palm Beach Office and practices in the areas of Legal and Accounting Malpractice, Commercial Litigation, Labor and Employment Law, Insurance Agent/Broker Errors & Omissions, Directors and Officers Liability, Banking and Financial Litigation, FINRA Arbitration, Trademark and Copyright Litigation, Intellectual Property, Real Estate Malpractice and Litigation, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Community Association Law, Commercial and Regulatory Litigation, Class Action, Consumer Protection Defense, Education Liability, Housing and ERISA Litigation for the firm.

Mr. Vine also frequently lectures in the areas of Lawyer’s Professional Responsibility and Legal Malpractice. He has spent over 16 years defending lawyers and other professionals in both civil disputes and grievance matters.  Mr. Vine is a member of the Grievance Committee for the 15th Judicial Circuit of Florida where he handles investigations of lawyers within this Judicial Circuit.  Mr. Vine is also a member of the Committee of Professionalism of The Florida Bar.

Mr. Vine conducts diversity training for managers and employees to assist companies in preventing discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Mr. Vine provides advice to employers to properly tailor their Employee Handbooks and other employment policies to their business needs, as well as drafting employment contracts and separation agreements. Mr. Vine counsels employers on executive compensation, fiduciary and employee benefit issues, as well as the proper classification of exempt and non-exempt employees. Mr. Vine further provides representation to employers during investigations or audits conducted by the Department of Labor or Department of Justice.

Mr. Vine also maintains a significant practice in defending class actions filed pursuant to the following statutes: Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, Fair Debt Collections Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Interstate Land Sales Act.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Business from the State University of New York at Albany. Mr. Vine received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 2000. While in law school, he served as a law clerk for The Honorable Neil Jon Firetog of Supreme Court of The State of New York as well as participated in the Corporate Real Estate Clinic which provided corporate and real estate legal services to Not For Profit Entities in New York City. Mr. Vine is admitted to practice in all state courts within Florida and New York as well as all Federal Courts in Florida.

Prior to joining Cole Scott & Kissane, Mr. Vine was specialty claims counsel at Zurich Insurance handling professional liability claims and insurance coverage matters. Prior to joining Zurich Insurance, Mr. Vine litigated with a large national firm based in New York in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Professional Liability.

Mr. Vine is a Martindale-Hubbell rated A.V. attorney. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Palm Beach County Bar Association, and Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
