Atalie Hemans is an associate in the Firm’s Fort Lauderdale West office practicing in the area of general civil litigation, including a focus upon catastrophic and personal injury litigation, commercial and residential properties, hospitality industry defense, premises liability, trucking accident defense, vehicular negligence, and first party property damage claims.

Atalie’s academic career began in Jamaica, where she secured a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with honors from the University of Technology. In pursuit of a legal career, and prior to moving to the United States, she then matriculated at Norman Manely Law School in Jamaica, ultimately securing her law degree. While enrolled at Norman Manely Law School, Atalie worked for a venerable government agency dealing with conveyancing and real estate transactions.

After she emigrated to Florida, Atalie worked for law firms where she gained extensive experience in practice areas like Personal Injury, Foreclosure, Immigration, Family, and Criminal law. While she worked as a Senior Paralegal for a boutique law firm, Atalie enrolled in the Foreign Attorney Acceleration Program at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Collage of Law. As a result of her outstanding academic achievements and exemplary lawyering skills, in her Legal Research and Writing Course, Atalie earned Certificates of Excellence for Best Demand Letter, Most Improved Brief Writer, and Oral Advocacy.

Atalie further achieved academic honors by earning a place on the Dean’s List, and, for her zealous efforts in serving the community, she received an Honors Certificate as part of the Van Horn Pro Bono Honors Program.

As a result of securing her Juris Doctor and passing the Florida Bar Exam, Atalie is uniquely equipped to practice in two separate countries. Atalie recognizes that all her achievements would not have been possible without her faith and the support of her loved ones. Moreover, in the future, she intends to mentor law students, young attorneys and to be a respected and admired member of the Bar.
