Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a proclamation requiring a special session of Florida’s Senate and House of Representatives starting the week of May 23, 2022, to address the homeowners insurance crisis created by overwhelming amounts of litigation. Florida’s Legislature will convene for the sole and exclusive purpose of considering legislation related to property insurance, reinsurance, the Office of Insurance Regulation, civil remedies, appropriations, and changes to the Florida Building Code to improve the affordability of property insurance.
CSK will be working closely with the Governor’s office, legislators, lobbyists, and others in the homeowners insurance industry in order to effectuate as much change as possible. We look forward to participating in this session and providing everyone with updates in real time as they develop.
