New Mandate for Redaction in Miami-Dade County

NEW MANDATE FOR REDACTION OF SOCIAL SECURITY, BANK ACCOUNT, DEBIT, CHARGE AND CREDIT CARD NUMBERS

Effective January 1, 2012, FS 119.0714(2) requires Clerks to keep social security, bank account, debit, charge and credit card numbers confidential and exempt from public disclosure. To comply with this, our office must review each file and record request to insure that these numbers are redacted in accordance with the law. While we try to fulfill customer's records requests as expeditiously as possible, this new legal mandate means that requests will take longer to fulfill.

We ask for your patience as we meet this mandate, and provide the following general timelines for record requests:

1. Unless a request in an emergency, i.e., there is a hearing that day and you must have copies for that hearing, we will attempt to fulfill your request within 48 hours.

2. If you are a party or an attorney of record for a party in the case, we will fulfill your request as quickly as possible.
