CSK Obtains Defense Verdict in Medical Malpractice Case

Michael E. Brand and Sheila Gonzales-Jonasz of Cole, Scott & Kissane’s Miami office obtained a defense verdict in this medical malpractice case involving a paralyzed Plaintiff. Mike Brand and Sheila Gonzales-Jonasz representing one Defendant and Daniel Shapiro of Cole Scott & Kissane’s Tampa office representing another separate Defendant received a complete defense verdict.

In sum, the Plaintiff alleged that our clients were responsible for failing to timely diagnose a clot, leading to the Plaintiff becoming paralyzed.

Following the lengthy and hard fought trial, the Plaintiff’s attorney asked the jury to return a verdict for $5.5 million in economic damages and $9 million for pain and suffering.  We are pleased to report that, as opposed to returning a $14.5 million dollar verdict, the jury returned a verdict in favor of our clients.
