Michelle P. Haines is an Associate in the Jacksonville office. She practices in the areas of commercial litigation, insurance coverage matters, premises liability, trucking/transportation, personal injury, commercial and residential properties, negligent security and the defense of catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims. Prior to joining the Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., Ms. Haines practiced at a boutique law firm representing homeowners associations, condominium associations, and corporations as corporate counsel in all facets of their business, including litigation. Mr. Haines has handled numerous cases through verdict and judgment, as well as arguing in both the First and Fifth District Courts of Appeal.
Ms. Haines graduated Cum Laude from the College of Charleston with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. Ms. Haines received her Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of law, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a certification in Advanced Legal Research, Writing and Drafting.
During law school, Ms. Haines was selected for the Moot Court Honor Board where she competed in several national competitions, earning a best advocate second award and advancing to the semi-finals. In her final year, Ms. Haines was elected Secretary to the Moot Court Honor Board. Ms. Haines was also a staff editor of the Florida Costal Law Review. Ms. Haines received numerous book awards, and obtained Dean’s honors every semester of law school. During her second and third year of law school, Ms. Haines was a teaching assistant in real property and lawyer processing.
Ms. Haines is licensed to practice is all Florida state courts as well as the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Jacksonville Bar Association, St. Johns County Bar Association, and Real Property, Probate, and Trust section of the Florida Bar.
