Melissa is an associate at the firm’s Fort Lauderdale East office, where she concentrates her practice on employment law and complex commercial litigation. Melissa has experience with matters involving employment discrimination, wage and hour actions, whistleblower claims, non-compete violations, leave and disability issues, and other employment law claims under both state and federal laws. She has particular experience in federal practice throughout the state of Florida. Melissa also handles complex civil litigation matters, including class actions, consumer litigation, and condominium and homeowners’ associations law. She has been recognized in both the 2021 and 2022 listings of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for her work in labor and employment law.
Melissa attended the University of Notre Dame as an undergraduate, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English with honors, and a minor in Art Studio and Design. While at Notre Dame, Melissa was a student athlete and competed for the Women’s Swimming and Diving team. Melissa was named to the ACC Student Athlete Academic Honor Roll as well as the university’s Dean’s list several times during college.
Melissa went on to graduate, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. During law school, Melissa was a Senior Notes and Comments Editor for the University of Miami Law Review, and made the law school’s Dean’s list. Outside of the classroom, she volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem for Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit.
Melissa was born in Plymouth, England and grew up in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
