Lisa Ann Thomas is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Orlando office, where she focuses her practice in the area of Workers’ Compensation Defense. She represents employers, carriers and third-party administrators in all areas of Florida workers’ compensation litigation.
Ms. Thomas was born and raised in Central Florida. She attended the University of Florida where she earned her BS in Journalism. In 2006, while still in college, Ms. Thomas began working at a Gainesville-based personal injury law firm. Ms. Thomas also volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem (a court-appointed child advocate) in the 8th Judicial Circuit.
After college, Ms. Thomas returned to the Orlando area, where she worked for law firms handling estate planning, corporate law, medical malpractice, personal injury, and product liability matters.
Ms. Thomas attended law school at Florida A&M University in Orlando, Florida. While at FAMU, Ms. Thomas was on the Dean’s List and received two book awards.
After law school, Ms. Thomas worked at an Orlando firm where she handled personal injury, medical malpractice, and product liability matters, including tobacco litigation. She is admitted to practice in all Florida courts, as well as in Federal court in Florida’s Middle, Northern, and Southern Districts. She has been involved in injury litigation for more than 10 years.
Ms. Thomas is a member the Orange County Bar Association, and she serves as Chair of the OCBA Professionalism Committee. She is a member of the Orlando Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She is also a volunteer Law Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America.
She is certified by the Department of Financial Services to provide CEU courses for claims professionals. Ms. Thomas has developed several Continuing Education classes for attorneys and paraprofessionals, including “Duty to Protect Electronically Stored Information (ESI)”, “#MeToo” panel discussion, and “Fireside Chat: What Young Lawyers Want and Need To Know.” Ms. Thomas has authored several articles on lawyers’ ethical duties.
