Kathleen Beesley is an Associate Attorney with Cole, Scott, & Kissane, P.A.’s Tampa office. Her practice focuses on the defense of first-party property claims.
Ms. Beesley earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, with a Double Minor in Psychology and Spanish, from Florida State University. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Barry University, Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, as an Academic Scholarship recipient.
During her time in law school, Ms. Beesley worked as a Certified Legal Intern for the Office of the Public Defender of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, specializing in felony cases. She also clerked for Chief Justice Donald A. Myers, Jr. of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, specializing in commercial litigation.
After graduating law school, Ms. Beesley worked several years with the Office of the Public Defender of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, in Tampa, FL. During her time with the Public Defender’s Office, Ms. Beesley was the attorney of record for over 3,000 cases in County and Circuit Court. Of those cases, Ms. Beesley tried over 20 jury and non-jury trials and argued countless evidentiary hearings. In addition, she has submitted and prevailed on a Writ of Habeas Corpus submitted to the Second District Court of Appeals.
In addition to her legal career, Ms. Beesley has been an active volunteer with charities and organizations such as, Bay Area Legal Services, Night of Freedom from Addiction, Project Hope for the Homeless, and the Restorative Justice Project. She is an active member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers.
Ms. Beesley enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her dog, Brewzer.
