Allan H. Schwartz is “of counsel” for the firm in the area of trust and estate planning. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Long Island, Mr. Schwartz, in 1967, received his Bachelor of Arts from Queens College of the City University of New York and his Juris Doctorate from the St. John’s University School of Law in 1972. Upon moving to Florida accompanied by his wife of now forty-five years, Mr. Schwartz attended graduate law school at the University of Miami where in 1973 he was conferred the degree of Masters of Laws in Taxation.
Upon the completion of his graduate law studies, Mr. Schwartz was admitted to practice in Florida. Mr. Schwartz is also admitted to practice by the United States Tax Court and by the United States District Court for the Southern District. After his admission to the Florida Bar, Mr. Schwartz assumed the position as an attorney for the Estate Tax Division of the Internal Revenue Service. The experience gained by Mr. Schwartz during his years with the federal government served as the perfect platform to hone his skills for the private sector where he has practiced law for the last thirty-five years in his given areas of concentration.
Prior to assuming his “of counsel” position with the firm, Mr. Schwartz held shareholder positions in two multi-state law firms, most recently as one of the founding partners in a smaller Boca Raton law firm established in 1984. Mr. Schwartz has received extensive recognition in his practice including legal elite status by the Florida Trend Magazine, as well as having appeared on talk shows on local television and radio. He has been featured as a guest speaker for both Life Insurance and Trust Companies where he has lectured to their clients and at times their personnel on his given areas of specialty, in addition to having written numerous published articles on the topics of estate planning and related areas of taxation.
Mr. Schwartz has extensive experience in all facets of Estate Planning and Estate, Trust, and Gift Taxation, which includes, but is not limited to, the drafting of Wills, Trusts, Family Partnerships, Family Limited Liability Companies, the preparation of Estate and Gift Tax Returns, as well as Estate and Trust Income Tax Returns, asset protection planning and, of course, representing clients in probate and trust administration proceedings.
Mr. Schwartz and his wife, Gail, are the proud parents of two children (both attorneys), one of whom, Sherry M. Schwartz, is a partner in the firm’s West Palm Beach office.
