Jennifer V. Ruiz is a Partner in the firm’s Miami office and practices in the areas of General Civil Litigation, Employment and Labor, Condominium and Homeowners’ Association, Civil Rights, Directors and Officers Liability, and Professional Malpractice for the firm. She practices in state and federal courts, at both trial and appellate levels. Mrs. Ruiz Co-Chairs the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Chairs the Committee’s affinity group: CSK WIN – Women’s Initiative Network.
Mrs. Ruiz dedicates a significant amount of time to community involvement and pro bono service, and has served on numerous judicially appointed committees, such as the Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on Judicial Nominating Procedures, as well as Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit Professionalism Committee, where she was appointed for her adherence to the professional standards of conduct in the Miami-Dade County legal community. Mrs. Ruiz was also appointed to serve on the Hispanic Heritage Commemoration Committee for the Southern District of Florida from 2016–2022, and from 2011–2014, she was appointed to multiple Federal Magistrate Judge Merit Selection and Reappointment Panels for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
In 2020, Mrs. Ruiz was featured in Attorney at Law Magazine, portraying Women in the Law. Mrs. Ruiz has been selected as a Rising Star in the nationwide publication Super Lawyers Magazine based on peer recognition and professional achievement. Mrs. Ruiz has also been listed in Super Lawyers Magazine as top-rated in civil litigation, with a focus on employment and labor, discrimination, and wrongful termination. Mrs. Ruiz is included in the 30th and 31st Editions (2024-2025) of U.S. News & World Report, The Best Lawyers in America® in the practice area of Appellate Practice, Employment Law - Management and Litigation - Labor and Employment.
Mrs. Ruiz served on the Board of Directors for the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers from 2016–2020, where she also served as co-chair of the state and federal court judicial liaison committee and numerous other planning committees for events aimed at promoting diversity, inclusion, and mentorship. In 2017, Mrs. Ruiz was recognized as a Leader in the Law by FAWL for making a significant impact in the community through legal service and volunteer activities, providing a positive role model for members. She was also selected as a fellow of the inaugural Dade Legal Aid Leadership Academy in 2014–2015 for her leadership skills and community involvement and has served on the Dade Legal Aid Legal Leaders and Advisory Committee. Mrs. Ruiz also served on numerous planning committees and as a panelist covering topics regarding diversity, inclusion, cultural sensitivity, and mentorship in the legal profession. Outside the legal profession, Mrs. Ruiz volunteers her time as a troop leader for the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida.
Mrs. Ruiz was recognized by Dade Legal Aid as a pro bono ambassador in 2016. In 2015, Mrs. Ruiz was named one of the 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of South Florida, as well as awarded the Young Professional Award in South Florida for Volunteer Service by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mrs. Ruiz was also recognized in The Latino American Who’s Who for advancing the culture of the Latino American business community in 2015–2016.
Mrs. Ruiz earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the Florida State University, cum laude, and her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University. While attending law school, Mrs. Ruiz served as an Articles Editor for the Nova Law Review, received honors for her pro bono service while in law school, and was the recipient of a scholarship granted by the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association for her academic achievements.
Mrs. Ruiz is fluent in Spanish; conversant in Italian.
