Jana M. Leichter is a partner in the firm’s Miami and West Palm Beach offices. Ms. Leichter’s practice focuses on defending employers at the administrative, trial, and appellate levels in all aspects of employment litigation, including lawsuits alleging discrimination, harassment and retaliation in violation of federal, state and local laws, as well as equal pay claims, unemployment compensation, workers' compensation retaliation, whistleblower, and wrongful termination. Ms. Leichter also represents employers in EEOC and other agency charges and has defended companies in collective actions. Ms. Leichter also has extensive experience in minimum wage and overtime claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Ms. Leichter’s practice extends beyond litigation, as she conducts diversity trainings for both management and/or staff, to assist companies in preventing discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Ms Leichter prepares, reviews, and updates Employee Handbooks and other employment policies, as well as drafts employment contracts, separation agreements, and releases. Ms. Leichter also counsels clients on various day-to-day employment issues, including investigation of employee complaints. Ms. Leichter also regularly assists employers on issues arising under wage and hour laws, including the proper classification of exempt and non-exempt employees.
Ms. Leichter is a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil Certified Mediator.
